Review of 2015

Primary 3A had a very productive first term between August to December.

In our Forth and Clyde Canal topic they learned a lot about the local area and the history of the canal. They went for a lovely walk along the canal and used their senses to discuss what they saw, heard and smelled along the way. They also were able to use their safety near water rules. We also had a visit from Freddie’s Grandpa who was extremely knowledgeable about life on the canal. The highlight of the topic had to be their visit to The Falkirk Wheel where the children spent the day seeing firsthand the amazing technology on view there.

The children also enjoyed their food topic where they became more aware of what they were eating and how to improve their diet to help them lead a healthier lifestyle. They also made bread and learned about the journey of wheat from the farmers’ field to the bread, cakes and other products on our plate. In the new year they finished the topic off with a visit to Frankie and Benny’s where they saw how pizzas were made and even got to help make their own pizza and of course they ate them too- they were delicious!!!

This term the children are studying the Ancient Egyptians and they already have learned a lot, I think they will be letting you know lots of facts over the next few weeks. They will be visiting The Glasgow Museum Resource Centre on the 4th February to find out even more about how the Egyptians lived.

This term the children will need a paint shirt for all the wonderful activities we have planned, if you could please send this in as soon as possible.

The gym days are Wednesday and Friday, please make sure they come prepared for gym on these days.
