Primary 4

Primary 4 has enjoyed the past 6 months studying a science experiement based water topic and film topic as well as many writing projects and hosting the Christmas Concert.

2010 has gotten off to a great start with our inter-disciplinary topic, The Puppet Master's Workshop. We don't want to give too much away about the topic as there will be an evening for family and friends to visit the workshop as well as being an audience for our full-stage puppet show.

The topic links technology and design with maths, language, history, religion, geography and drama and explores the world of puppetry from the great Sergei Obraztsov and Jim Henson to the religious and cultural side to puppetry through the Indian Hindu epic, The Mahabharata.

In maths, we have been working hard to learn our tables and have some nifty songs that help us remember. We have taken our division further to include remainders and have studied number into the tens of thousands. We will also begin a fractions topic  as well as our daily mental maths of multiplication, division, subtraction and addition.

Towards the end of this term we will be preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Communion and for this we will work very colsely with the Parish, St Ninian and Holy Family, where there will be Saturday Sacrament clubs. Dates for such will be decided by the Parish.

With all the hard work we have been putting into out Puppet topic we want to get full use out of all the puppets designed and made and so we are planning a street parade in the summer term, linking eneterprise and International Education.
