Primary 1C

Welcome back for our final term in primary 1! Firstly I would like to thank all pupils and staff for their enthusiasm and hard work during the Joyning the Learning topic. The children really enjoyed this experience and your contributions and help were greatly appreciated. The parents’ night was a great success and it meant a great deal to the children to have the chance to share their work with family. Thank you for your words of support and encouragement.

For our final term our topic is called ‘In the Garden’. We will explore living and non living aspects of a garden and become familiar with a variety of plants and animals.

In reading we will continue with recognition of the 100 common words in preparation for the children spelling these in primary 2. Children should continue to familiarise themselves with their over and over words each night.

We have a new friend in class. His name is Adventure Ted and he will be the main character in our story writing during the final term. Every pupil will have the opportunity to bring Ted home and take him on an adventure after which they will write a story of their experience and read it to the class the following day.

In maths we will be working on subtraction and capacity. In order to cope with subtraction children should continue to practise their number stories to ten. Please continue to practise these regularly.

As part of our Alive O programme we will be having a Prayer Service this term and all parents are invited. Date to be confirmed.

Thank you again for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the Prayer Service.
